What 2 Do?
Family Matters From KUTV Channel2

Hello,

I’m Steve Carlston Vice President and General Manager for KUTV. I want to take a moment and introduce you to a new yearlong campaign which will air throughout the day on KUTV and 2News called FAMILY MATTERS.

In television most people believe key demographics are defined by Adults 18-49 or Women 18-34. But at KUTV we know that the key demographic in Utah is FAMILIES!

2News knows families are the fabric of our society and that’s why we’re committed to providing more news and information that’s essential to your family - every day.

Family Matters is not family values – instead it’s a positive pro-social message that includes information on improving communication, family safety and protection, teen issues, child development, financial planning, senior care, service, conflict resolution, healthy living, community involvement, fun activities to do for all ages, and the importance of education and learning.

By combining the strength and reach of Salt Lake’s number one TV station and the power of 2News, along with our select corporate partners, we can make a significant impact on the lives of people in Utah.

Because in Utah Families Matter!

APX ALARM SYSTEMS

When KUTV asked APX Alarm if our company was interested in teaming up for a new yearlong and state-wide initiative called Family Matters we cheerfully signed up as the first partner.

First because keeping Families safe is at the core of what APX Alarm provides on a 24/7 basis to all of our customers.

But more importantly APX Alarm knows that each day our 9,000 employees and their families are also dealing with many diverse issues that affect their daily lives.

Being part of positive pro-social family campaign with KUTV allows APX Alarm the opportunity to help educate and inform families all across Utah on the issues that matter most.

FIVE WAYS TO KEEP YOUR HOME SAFE.

  • Be wise and dedicate a portion of your monthly expenses to a monitored home security system. You will never regret spending a dollar fifty a day that may one day save your or your family’s life.
  • Have bright lights over stairs and steps and on landings. Keep stairs clear of clutter.
  • Keep cleaners, medications and beauty products in a place where children can’t reach them. Use child safety locks.
  • For Poison Help call 1-800-222-1222. Call if you need help or want information about poisons. Call 9-1-1 if someone needs to go to the hospital right away.
  • Have working smoke alarms and hold fire drills.
