HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah (AP) — Military commanders say they're trying to stem a rise in the number of suicides at Hill Air Force Base.

One program includes assigning 14 "wingman advocates" to find people who may be in distress and connect them with services.

The death of an airman on Antelope Island over the weekend brings to at least eight the number of suicides this year.

One tally says there've been at least 22 suicides at Hill since 2006.
