Wednesday, Nov 18, 2009 @03:02pm CST As social media continues to grow in popularity, parents may be worried about their children logging on. Today, Utah officials unveiled a new internet safety program that will educate parents on how to keep their kids safe online. The “Wired with Wisdom” program also has tips about staying safe with cell phones, chat rooms and other technology widely used by young people. “The best way to protect our kids is to provide them with the tools to protect themselves,” said Utah Attorney General Mark Shurtleff. “Wired with Wisdom” is an easy-to-follow online tutorial designed by those who have worked to keep the internet safe. The tutorials can be accessed by teachers, youth leaders and police officers. It is available free of charge. They can access it online by visiting www.webwisekids.org/WWW-UT . The password is “wise.” Users must register before using the software. |
