Wednesday, Nov 18, 2009 @12:32pm CST Two weeks after that infamous “hair-pulling” incident, New Mexico women’s soccer player Elizabeth Lambert is speaking out. Who could forget her actions during a playoff game against B.Y.U., where Lambert yanked a Cougar player to the ground by her ponytail? Since then, Lambert was suspended from the team and the incident was played out on television stations across the globe. The incident also sparked a massive internet debate where some said she should be charged with assault, while others approved her actions. In an interview with the New York Times, Lambert said, “I’ll be angry with myself that I did this, to my team, my university, that I did this to women’s soccer, a sport that many females have worked very hard to get respect for.” Lambert also says she is seeking counseling and is talking to young players about acceptable behavior on the playing field.
